// Templates

Start a new app from a whole app.

An app template is a complete Open Mercato app in a GitHub repository, for example a CRM, or a WMS for an e-commerce company. A module adds one feature to your app. A template is the app you start from.

// Plan

How it will work

  1. Save. A separate tool, create-mercato-template, works like create-mercato-module: it prepares a copy of your app without secrets and local data, and pushes it to GitHub as a template repository, public or private.
  2. Start. create-mercato-app gets a --template option that creates a new app from a listed template or from any repository you can read: npx create-mercato-app my-app --template owner/repo
  3. Find. Public templates are listed on this page. Private ones work with --template owner/repo and are never listed.

Neither exists yet: there is no create-mercato-template package and no --template option. Both are described in the specification below.

The gallery opens with the first templates saved with the tool. Until then, modules add features to an app you already have.
